First of the season
Site Meter

We shot our first wedding of the season this weekend. The weather was a bit dicey but it held, for the most part, and gave us a great day at two beautiful venues. N & T were delightful to work with. We hope they're having a much deserved break on the beaches in Hawaii right now!

Ceremony: Portland LDS Temple
Reception: Hayden's Lakefront Grill

Lensbaby on the last one?

You noticed? I was just sorta playing around with it and was pleased with how it came out.

The Lensbaby is a neat concept, but I've never had much luck with it. I should probably see how it is on the D3... but it just makes me want a real tilt shift lens.

It's definitely going to take some practice. I've never played with a real t/s lens, but I can see owning one down the road when we have some more capital. I wouldn't balk at renting one, either. I'll probably call our local rental place and see if we can secure one for the memorial day weekend.

The ring shot was actually shot reversed too.

Wow. I love all of those! If I had need for a photographer (and lived in your neck of the woods), I would hire you.

When is your first wedding?

We had our first one the second week of January. Nothing else on the books so far. With us, possibly, making the move to TN, we haven't really been pushing to get work here, just yet.

At this point, we are just getting our ducks in a row, and basically getting ready to hit the ground running once we do move.

It's kind of frustrating... we are still not too sure what we are doing, as far as moving or not, so it's tough to get things going!

That's tough. I've heard from a couple of photogs who've had to move and they say it can be a real business killer.

oh yeah... at this point, we aren't shooting more than a few weddings a year... but we also work regular full-time jobs...

Ideally, once we move, we can afford for one of us to work full-time, and the other to work on the photo business. SoCal is a TOUGH place to try and start things up! :-)

I've heard that SoCal is a tough place to get started (because of over-saturation), but once you're established, you're pretty well set.

It's too bad you guys will be moving so far away, but maybe we can get together in Vegas next year.

Oh yeah... it's pretty saturated here. I've worked my website, so I usually show up in the first page or two on google, so that's a plus. Up there with all the big names in OC!

Vega$ is still and easy trip to make, so, hopefully we'll be going back... ogf course, my wife loves to gamble, so i'm sure it won't be too hard convincing her!
